1 Introductions, apologies, substitutions and declarations of interest
1.1 The Chair welcomed Members to the meeting of the Children, Young People and Education Committee.
1.2 There were no apologies.

2 Pre-appointment hearing for Chief Executive of the Commission for Tertiary Education and Research
2.1 The Committee scrutinised the Welsh
Government’s appointed candidate.
3 Papers to note
3.1 The papers were noted.
4 Motion under Standing Order 17.42(ix) to resolve to exclude the public from the remainder of this meeting
4.1 The motion was agreed.
5 Pre-appointment hearing for Chief Executive of the Commission for Tertiary Education and Research - consideration of the evidence
5.1 The Committee considered the evidence it had heard in the previous session. It was agreed that a revised draft of the report would be circulated and considered again at the meeting on 7 June.
5.2 Members agreed to write to the First Minister for some data on direct ministerial appointments.
6 Joint Ministerial scrutiny session - consideration of the approach
6.1 The Committee agreed the approach to the joint scrutiny session. A letter would be sent to the Welsh Government outlining specific areas to be covered during the session.
